|
|
First you need to register and login using the menu links in the orange bar at the top of the gallery.
Please Note: The gallery and forum each need their own registration... if you have registered in the forum only, you will also need to register in the gallery.
Your "Gallery" is created automatically as part of this registration process, however images cannot be placed directly into your gallery, but must be placed within an album inside your gallery.
Think of it as the Gallery is your book shelf and it holds your photo albums that hold your photos.
So now that you are registered and logged in..... you should see some dark grey link boxes in the top left, one of which will say "Create / order my albums" ...Click this button.
Now you should see the "Album Manager" screen and towards the bottom right you will see a light grey box with "New" ...Click this button.
The screen will not change, but "New Album" should now appear in both the large text box (album list area) as well as in the one line dark grey text box bottom below. ...Rename "New Album" in this one line text box and click "Apply modifications"
That's it, you have created an Album inside your Gallery and you can make as many Albums as you wish.
To upload images......
Now that you have an album, simply click on "Upload Picture" that is in the top orange menu bar (you must be logged in to see this) You will be presented with the upload screen, where it is a simple matter of selecting your album from the drop down menu, browsing to your image file and filling in the text boxes.
Some points to remember....
1: Most important.... Make your own album and select it from the drop down menu, as the image will default upload to one of the "public" albums if your album is not selected.
2: As a Regular Member you have 5mb of disk space, so it is best if you resize your images to a maximum of 800 pixels on the longest side and use jpeg compression to keep them down to a realistic size.... full size images will very quickly max out your gallery and be slow for people to view.
3: When entering comps, please select the category title from the drop down menu. Failure to do this will make the gallery search function blind to your images when I do my search for entries.
4: Cookies must be enabled in your internet settings to use the gallery, without them you will not see the full menus.
I hope this helps.
Russell

Welcome aboard, sorry that you are having problems.
This is what you should see after you have logged in....
Circled Red is the button in question. The only reasons why this would not show are....
1: You are not logged in.
Please make sure that have "Logout" displayed as circled green. If not, you have NOT logged in. This may be due to the fact that you are not registered within the gallery (remember, the forum and gallery each need the own registration) or you may not have your browser set to accept cookies. Please register or confirm that your browser's security level is not set to "High" (TOOLS>>>INTERNET OPTIONS>>>SECURITY) and that site cookies are allowed.
2: You are NOT in admin mode. ("User Mode" link should be displayed as circled blue)
3: Your browser is accepting cookies, but they are broken.
If this is the case, please go to TOOLS>>>INTERNET OPTIONS>>>GENERAL>>>DELETE COOKIES and restart your browser.
Let me know how you go with those.

Russell,
Is it possible to copy images from my existing gallery into the "Camera" folder??
I know how to upload directly there, but that would use up some of my 5 uploads per day...
If that's the only way to do it then no worries, I'll just space it out over the week...
Thanks.
Daniel. |

Yes.... you can change the album that an image resides in by browsing to that image and selecting "edit description". Then from the drop-down menu you select the new album.
This is not recommended for the camera gallery however, as these images are deleted when a new selection is required for the magazine and this would see all your comments lost. _________________ Russell Stewart (iRuss)

Please make sure your file is not too large.
It is best to keep them under a max of 800 pixels on the longest side and 200k.... even a little smaller if you can, as this will allow many more image to fit within your gallery. _________________ Russell Stewart (iRuss)

I have had a lot of trouble trying to log in from the User Galleries page. I have set all my virus type programs to allow cookies and the potd site. I have still not seen the page with dark grey button for setting up an album/gallery. Can you help? _________________ John West |

Hi John,
Did you get the Private Message that I sent earlier today? (It should show that you have a message in the green menu list above.)
If not.... it seems that the problem is that you are not registered in the gallery. Both gallery and forum need their own registration. _________________ Russell Stewart (iRuss)

I am new to this and I am attempting to submit an image but I am unable to locate the "SUBMIT" button.
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks. |

There is no "Submit" button within the gallery, only in the main menu at the top of this page and this provides some competition guidelines.
To enter an image into your gallery and also the comp, please refer back to the original post above and follow it step by step. _________________ Russell Stewart (iRuss)
